Review – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, written and directed by James Gunn, once again delivers some of the most fun and rewarding character interactions in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, structurally the film is not your normal affair, and despite it really working for me, I do feel that some audiences will struggle with the slower, less direct pace of the film. Morgan, directed by Luke Scott, is a film that is wholly unoriginal, and worse, completely predictable. This is a film that does nothing new and has nothing unique or interesting to say. The film had a chance, if it had only made the effort to build out its cast of character, well then maybe there would have been something worth remembering. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, directed by Woo-Ping Yeun is a film that lacks everything that made the original so memorable. Gone are the sweeping, incredibly choreographed fight scenes, gone are the mythical and interesting characters and gone is a simple but touching story. In their place is a lot of nothing. This film is the epitome of an unnecessary and unwanted sequel and it does the most egregious thing an unwanted sequel can do and that is to completely add nothing new or anything of real worth.
