Review – King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, directed by Guy Ritchie, is a film that does not skimp on style. A quick, witty editing style, music that elevates every moment it is a part of, and action that is exciting to watch; King Arthur is undoubtedly a well-made film, from a cinematic standpoint. However the film has the big issue of being all style and no substance. With characters that lack individuality and a story that is predictable; the film undoubtedly struggles to offer anything new or narratively memorable. And so that leaves me to wonder: Is the film’s bombastic, fun, exciting and rewarding to look at style, enough to make this summer blockbuster experience, one worth seeing? Star Trek Films: From Worst to Best

With Star Trek Beyond coming out in cinemas, I thought it’d be fun to run down all of the other Star Trek films, from my least favourite to my favourite. I’ve seen all of these films quite a few times – that’s what happens when your brother is a devout Star Trek fan. I don’t think that some of these films get the love or the acclaim that they deserve, while others certainly deserve to fade into obscurity.

Review – The Finest Hours

The Finest Hours

The Finest Hours, directed by Craig Gillespie is a film that plays it pretty simple. I was never surprised by anything, nor was I ever lost within a scene that was stand out brilliant – everything in The Finest Hours moved along in a way that came of safe and a little to cookie cutter. There are some good elements to the film – those primarily are how great the film looks and a third act that almost makes up for the bland first 2, but this is a film that does kind of just come and go by the end (like a ship in the night).
