Review – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, directed by Gareth Edwards, offers one of the most different feeling Star Wars films to date. This is a film of tragedy, dire situations and the unbending want for revenge, and with such a darker tone comes people and places that are unique in their presentation (for a Star Wars film). However a film of this scale is of course not without its problems (some which are very noticeable). But then I did find so much to be interested by, and I also continue to adore the level of work and detail that is going into these new films… but… is what the film does, enough to make it worth existing? Did we need Rogue One? Let’s get the full review underway and answer not only those questions, but better explore all of the films elements.

Review – Ip Man 3

Ip Man 3, directed by Wilson Yip, is another solid entry in the Ip Man franchise. Back again is the flawless fight choreography that has made the films so famous and so loved. But Ip Man 3 finally offers up something that has been missing from the previous films and that is a meaningful exploration of the relationship between Ip man and his wife, Cheung Wing-sing. As with all the Ip Man films, there are some missteps along the way, but there’s also something wholly endearing about it all. So let’s dive into Ip Man 3 and see how it shapes up.

Review – Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, directed by Woo-Ping Yeun is a film that lacks everything that made the original so memorable. Gone are the sweeping, incredibly choreographed fight scenes, gone are the mythical and interesting characters and gone is a simple but touching story. In their place is a lot of nothing. This film is the epitome of an unnecessary and unwanted sequel and it does the most egregious thing an unwanted sequel can do and that is to completely add nothing new or anything of real worth.
